take your players’ focus and confidence levels through the roof,
and have the whole team peak in time for the playoff run.
Dear Coach,
- Have you been searching for ways to help your team get the “edge” this season?
- Do you want to be able to address all your players’ needs and parents’ questions about achieving peak physical and mental performance, but have no time to learn it all yourself?
- Are you looking for an easy-to-use plan that will ensure you finish the season stronger than you started?
As you read this letter from start to finish you are going to take away tools that you can use right now with your team to start having your most successful season ever on and off the ice.
In fact, this might be the most important letter you read this season.
Here’s Why:
You and I both know that your team’s on-ice skills, strategies and systems are essential to your success - without them, you can’t play the game.
But you don’t just want to “play” - you want your players to improve and, let’s be honest, you want to win. The truth is it takes more than just practices and games to become the best…
It’s what you do OFF the ice that is going to allow you to separate your team from the competition and leave them in your dust.
In this letter, you will learn how to help your team…
- Get focused, build confidence and be mentally prepared for every game.
- Eat right at home and on the road so they can perform their best.
- Physically dominate all 3 periods.
- Avoid injury and burn-out.
- Get stronger, faster and fitter all season long.
- Peak in time for big tournaments and playoffs.
Like other coaches, you want to address all the physical and mental needs of your team, without having to add another big time commitment into the weekly schedule or another big ticket item to the budget. Don’t worry, you’re not alone.
Most coaches don’t address these critical aspects of off-ice player development at all. And even with the small number that do, it’s at the expense of more time and energy spent away from family and school commitments.
It’s not your fault that you don’t have all the answers - there’s just not enough time in the day to learn everything about how to prepare physically and mentally for peak performance, let alone to put it all together into a simple step-by-step plan that you and your team can start using immediately.
Today, you are going to learn that there is a much more effective way to bring the best out of your players and get started on having your best season ever.
In fact, putting the complete player development puzzle together is much easier than it seems.
Most people know me from some of the articles I’ve written, the seminars I’ve taught or the camps I’ve run…My name is Kim McCullough - I was an elite player for 11 years and have been training players and teams on and off the ice for the past 9 years (you can do a Google search on me). I spend day and night coaching, training, teaching and helping girls hockey coaches, players and teams take their game to the next level.
I know first hand there is no shortage of things that you could add to your schedule this season to try and make your team better. The hard part is that there are so many options and only so many hours in the day to figure out which solution fits your team best.
I spent my entire playing career searching for that one off-ice training program, nutrition plan or mental performance strategy that was going to give me an “edge” over the competition on the ice. When I started coaching, I quickly realized how hard it must be for coaches to figure this all out when they have to deal with 17 players instead of just one!
I know what you’re thinking…
Into My Season Plan?
Every coach I speak with wants to help their players succeed in any way they can, but the prospect of having to learn it all…and then fit it all into their season plan, can be overwhelming. It seems like a lot to ask you to fit more into an already hectic schedule.
Once the season hits in the fall, you go “full throttle” until the spring. There is always another practice, game or tournament to prepare for.
Let’s face it - it gets crazy quickly. And it’s easy to feel like something else to the program might tip the balance into over-training. So you try to walk the line between doing enough and doing too much - weary of anything that might put the team over the edge. I don’t blame you because it’s not your fault.
Girls hockey has changed - there are more opportunities for girls to play at the younger levels and to compete at the elite levels of women’s hockey than there have ever been before. And that means players and parents are always looking to do more so they can achieve more and get to the next level. They want it all - more practices, more games, more training, more work on the mental game, more tournaments.
You’re the one stuck with trying to keep up with all the time and energy demands and fit all that “more” into the schedule.
Here’s the honest truth… the girls really do need more.
Here’s what happens:
It all starts at training camp. You hope that everyone shows up in great shape, but odds are that you have a handful of players who really worked hard in the off-season, some who kept busy with other sports and others who seem to have done nothing. Not much you can do about that at this point, so you start putting them through their paces on the ice and before long, they all seem to be getting into “game shape”. Like most teams, you have your first game only a few days or weeks after your first team skate, and then the season is going full-steam ahead.
You’ve entered a few big tournaments and you’ve got extra practice time to work on more skills, systems and strategies. The parents are happy that their kids are on the ice a lot and are getting better. You get through your first few tournaments and first few months of the season with energy and enthusiasm levels high.
But as the season wears on, a few girls start to complain about being tired, sore and injured. The parents start “talking”, get on your case about the decreased performance of the team and some start suggesting how things should change.
The scary thing is that once your team’s performance starts to drop, it can be a slippery slope to the bottom of the standings. A few key players go down with injuries, a few more start to lose their focus, you lose a few games in a row, the players start to turn on each other - and all of a sudden you have lost control.
The season started off so well, but now you’re left wondering what happened and find yourself scrambling to the get the team back on track.
You hope the team is able to rebound in the new year and get some momentum up for the playoff run, but you worry that their best games are behind them and that you are going to limp your way through the rest of the year. And when things start to go south, who does everyone usually blame? The coach, of course.
I will show you how to:
- Avoid momentum killing injuries & dreaded slumps
- Make sure your team is the strongest, fastest and fittest
- Help your players be focused, aggressive and confident
- Put it all together into a step-by-step plan that will only add few extra minutes to your daily schedule.
With the…

The Step-By-Step In-Season Success System
- Did you know most teams actually end the season weaker, slower and less fit than when they started - even though they are on the ice 5, 6, or 7 days a week?
- Do you know that doing simple body-weight based speed and strength workouts before or after practice will not only prevent injuries, but dramatically increase on-ice performance? Less than 30 minutes, twice a week, in the dressing room, parking lot or rink, will have your players winning races to the puck, dominating battles in the corner and make the other team look like they are going in slow-motion in overtime.
There are no shortage of different ways to train off the ice during the season to not only maintain your fitness, but improve it dramatically. But if you are like most coaches, you may have a hard time getting the parents’ to “buy-in” to the idea that they are going to have to spend another night of the week at a team training session. And even if you do get them to understand the importance of improving strength, speed and stamina all season long, can you guarantee them that the person who is designing your program has experience playing the women’s game at the highest level for over a decade and exclusively works aspiring girls hockey players on and off the ice.
The truth is that most programs out there were designed by men for men’s hockey players and don’t address the physical or mental needs of young female hockey players. Your players don’t want to be 6’2”, 200 lbs and their parents are scared that their daughters will get hurt while strength training. You are going to have a much easier time getting your players and parents to buy-in to a training program that will get the girls faster, stronger and fitter, without any fancy equipment, heavy weights or expensive gyms.
- Did you know that girls hockey players have one of the highest injury rates in all of team sports, even without full body-checking?
- Do you know that most of these injuries could be prevented by building a foundation of strength and speed off the ice?
But they are even worse for girls.
Girls hockey is a very social sport and your players do not want to let down their teammates, their coaches or parents by missing a game due to injury. They will play through absolutely anything. I know because I was one of those players. I had the same “warrior” mentality that most of your players do. An injury not only means time away from playing the sport you love, it means missing out on sharing the whole on-ice and off-ice experience with the team. I truly believe that girls hockey players are more head-strong than boys when it comes to taking time away from the ice because they don’t want to let you or their teammates down.
Most of these injuries, whether muscle pulls or concussions, can be prevented. And fewer injuries mean more time on the ice, which means more opportunity to get better, which means more fun and more success on the ice.
The truth is… most girls hockey players have little or no experience with proper off-ice training. And when their coaches or parents sign them up to use the latest high-tech equipment or fancy training facility, they are setting them up for disaster.
This is what I did as a young player. I built strength through heavy weight training and speed through high-intensity plyometric training - but I had absolutely no foundation underneath it. Trying to do too much too soon ultimately left me injured and frustrated.
I do not want your players to get stuck on the injury roller-coaster like I did. I’ve seen it happen to far too many players and teams. Off-ice training doesn’t always have to be hard or complicated - but it does have to address the needs of your players as young female athletes safely and effectively. And that has to be done with basic body-weight only strength and speed training first.
This might surprise you but…
Has NOTHING TO DO With The Physical Game!
I just finished telling you that proper off-ice training is essential to your team’s success this season, but there is one other area of off-ice player development that is the most critical to address with girls hockey players. I guarantee this part of the system will have the greatest effect on your team’s performance this season.
To Address With Girls Hockey Players.
The single biggest difference between male and female players is in the mental side of the game. Girls hockey players are way too under-confident in their abilities. When a boy scores one goal, he carries himself like he in the next Crosby.
But a girl could score a hat-trick, and instead of being proud of her accomplishment, she’ll focus on the one bad pass she made. Girls hockey players constantly downplay their accomplishments. It’s not because they are fishing for compliments or because they truly believe that they aren’t good.
The reality is that they are scared of being good. If a player truly wants to get to the next level and is willing to put in the time and energy to get there, she runs the risk of being seen as an over-achiever or kiss-up.
If you are like most coaches, you have 4 or 5 players who are really driven to excel, 6 or 7 who work hard but aren’t quite as driven, and then the rest who are just along for the ride. That’s the reality for 97% of the girls hockey teams out there. So how do you cater to the needs of the really driven players without alienating the less motivated players with different goals? How do you create a “culture of excellence” in your dressing room so that all your players are striving towards the same team goal while also staying on track with their own performance goals?
Ultimately, it all comes down to building FOCUS and CONFIDENCE among your players.
The Sad Truth Is That if You Don’t Address The Mental Game With Your Team This Season, All Your Hard Work On & Off The Ice Could Be Ruined.
That’s where I come in.
For years I’ve watched many talented and hard-working teams start off the season strong with all the enthusiasm and energy in the world, only to see limp through the finish line, plagued by injuries and “in-fighting” among players.
I have spoken with so many coaches who were frustrated by their on-ice results that I started to keep track of all the things that successful teams were doing off the ice to end up on at the top of the standings. When I started using this girls-specific, in-season, off-ice system with teams, the coaches and parents would always say, “you should write a book” or “do a seminar.”
So, that’s what I did. I put together an easy system that takes you step by step through the entire in-season performance plan…and cuts through all the extras that you and your girls don’t need. You will be able to eliminate the fear of not having a successful season on the ice and start to gain control over the whole player development process.
If you are new to working with girls hockey players…this will really open your eyes and help you address the unique physical and mental needs of your team.
If you have been coaching in the female game for a while…this will help make your season a lot easier and give you a little bit of an unfair advantage.
After you start using through this system, you will quickly and easily transform your players into the fastest, fittest and most focused team around…instead of crossing your fingers and hoping that your team stays injury-free and avoids in-fighting or wasting time, energy and money on services that don’t meet the critical needs of girls hockey players.
How do you do it? Easy. The Best Hockey Season Ever is a simple, step-by-step system that will have your team playing their best in no time.
Here are some of the other “game changing” secrets you’ll learn inside…
- The one part of your pre-game preparation that will maximize your team’s performance and the one that could destroy it.
- The one habit that most hockey players and parents hate - but will keep the team performing their best throughout busy tournaments and long playoff runs.
- The 3 things you need to do to address “confidence” and “focus” issues with your team…this will have a greater effect on your season’s outcome than you can imagine.
- How to do a complete speed and strength training session with your team inside the rink without anything other than a few cones, tennis balls and your body-weight.
- Getting your players to understand how to “fuel” for performance…this can be tricky and a touchy subject, but it is absolutely critical to your success this season.
- How to develop overtime-dominating conditioning in the last 10 minutes of practice without “bag skating” players.
- How to create a “culture of excellence” in your dressing room…and avoid the in-fighting and jealousy that plagues many girls hockey teams.
…and much, much more!

Pretty awesome, don’t you agree?
But, don’t take my word for it.
Listen to the success stories of people who have used this system:
to compete against the best teams all game long. Our girls seem to be
very strong in the 3rd period as we tend to wear most other teams down.”
“I think it’s a great thing that you’re doing for girls hockey. Not many girls get the chance to have someone show them it’s more than just the ice and the puck, but how you train off the ice and the way you’re thinking that will help you succeed. I strive to become a great hockey player and hope to separate myself from just good to great. Thanks for helping me get started Kim!”
“As a coach in the female game for the last ten years, I’m always on the look out for a better way to develop my players. I, like most coaches who made the switch from the male game, thought I had been there and done that in terms of player development. Of course, having never experienced what it is like to be a 14 year old girl, I never felt that I could never fully speak to their needs, as everything I had been taught and was using up until this point had been designed by men for use with the male athlete. This system completely changed the way I approached the off-ice side of the game with my players and the changes I have seen in the girls have been amazing.”

- What if you could have the entire plan laid out for you and not have to worry if you are doing the right things to help your girls succeed?
- How much would that be worth to you? Or more importantly, how much would that be worth to your players?
For most teams I know, having an injury-free, fun-filled, successful season is priceless. I was fortunate to have a few years like that throughout my hockey career and I will always cherish those experiences. As for those “not so great” seasons - they just haunt you.
Just the possibility of having an amazing season on and off the ice would be worth the investment.
I have one final thought to share with you:
After studying the behavior of successful athletes and teams for years, I know one thing for certain:
If you don’t make the decision to take control of your team’s success right now, before the season is in full-swing, you won’t only be missing out on a BIG opportunity to gain a HUGE advantage on your competition, but you run the risk that your team is going to under-perform and under-achieve this season.
You know how they say that you can’t tell someone how to get somewhere unless you’ve been there yourself? Well I’ve been there with hundreds of athletes, and dozens of teams, and I’m going to show you the way too. Think about it…
This is possibly the most important investment you’ll ever make in your coaching career.
