I just did a phone interview with a fellow female coach that is unlike any other interview I’ve ever done. Usually I am the interviewer, asking all the questions, but in this call, I’m the one giving the answers. This is also the first time that I’ve been interviewed by another female coach.
OHL and NHL players. Before I started Total Female Hockey, I worked with elite male players too - so we can really speak about how working with girls’ hockey players HAS TO BE very different than working with the boys - especially when it comes to getting to the elite level.
She had some really great questions for me, including…
1. What’s the #1 exercise girls’ can do in the off-season to be a better player?
2. Can the most skilled players get away with not working hard off the ice?
(my answer to this might surprise you).
3. What prevents most girls’ hockey players from getting to the next level?
(again - this is a very interesting answer too).
Now that the off-season is here, you need to start thinking about the training you are going to do off the ice this summer to take your game to the next level.
Listening to this interview will start you off in the right direction.

PS - With the summer just around the corner, the Total Female Hockey Camps are starting to fill up quickly. We’ve got camps running every month, including the Testing Camp in May (a few spots left), a June camp out west in British Columbia, our July hockey school (including an adult women’s camp) and our biggest event, The Total Female Hockey Elite Experience in August.
Every single camp is specifically designed to meet your needs as a female player
and every instructor has played and coached at the elite level of women’s hockey.
