Even though the number of colleges and universities that offer women’s varsity hockey programs across North America has doubled in the last 10 years, reaching over 100 teams in 2008, many aspiring girls’ hockey players feel that their access to those opportunities is limited by a lack of information. Many motivated and talented players end up frustrated by the process and ultimately miss out on a their chance to pursue a terrific academic and athletic opportunity because they didn’t have access to the information they needed to get to that elite level.
But getting to the elite level of women’s hockey is not as simple as having the right resources and opportunities fall at your feet. There is still much work to be done and three things that you absolutely must know if you want to reach your dreams of playing college hockey or for the national team.
Here are the Top 3 Things You Need To Know To Get To The Elite Level of Women’s Hockey:
1. How you stack up to the competition
2. Exactly what you need to work on
3. How to put your personalized plan together to reach your dreams.
Girls hockey players need to be tested on and off the ice so that they have objective numbers that allow them to measure how they stack up compared to players their age and the ones who are already at the elite level.
Once you have done your on-ice and off-ice testing, you also need to get some subjective feedback from your coach or the elite coaches you aspire to play for, so that you know what aspects of your game you need to improve on to reach the next level.
Once you’ve got your objective and subjective feedback, you can start to put your personalized plan together to move you closer to your dreams every day.
Most girls hockey players have the BIG dreams.
But they haven’t got the PLAN to help them get there.
That’s why I created the Total Female Hockey Experience Camp: to give aspiring players access to all the education, evaluation and competitive opportunities that will allow them to excel on and off the ice and help them fulfill their dreams of playing college hockey and representing their country.
You need to know where you are starting from so that you can make your road map to success. Or else you are just driving around looking for the “best” route. The truth is that there is not one “best” route. Your road to success in women’s hockey depends on where you are starting from and the choices you are willing to make and the action you are willing to take to make your trip to the top as successful as possible.
Once you have your starting point, final goal and the road map, you must take responsibility for arriving at your final destination.
Work Hard. Dream BIG.
