We are now officially into the 2nd week of the Total Female Hockey “Take Your Game To The Next Level” Contest. How did you do in your first week? If you have never tried this type of goal setting and goal getting plan before, the first week can be tough. If your goals were a little off the mark, don’t worry - we’ll get you right back on track in week 2. If you came through week 1 with flying colors, we’ll work on setting your sights a little higher and really pushing yourself to get to the next level this week. Let’s get started!

In order to guarantee your success, you need to repeat the process every week until the contest is done. I will be picking the 2nd and 3rd winners of the contest based on how much action you are taking towards your BIG goal every week. These winners will receive copies of the Total Female Hockey In-Season Strength System as well as Total Female Hockey T-shirts. And the GRAND prize winner will be chosen based on the Ultimate Success Story you share after 12 weeks of consistent goal setting and goal getting.

Remember - the only way I can know whether you are consistently taking action toward your goals is to see you share your goals every Monday and your success stories every Sunday in the comment section below the blog entry for that day on Total Female Hockey Club. If you aren’t sure how to break your BIG goals down into smaller weekly goals and daily action steps, just ask. I am here to help.

I guarantee that after taking consistent action, you will be much closer to your BIG goal and we will be celebrating all of your amazing success in 12 weeks.

What’s your goal for this week?

What action steps are you going to take to get there?

Share your weekly goal and 3 action steps below and then get to work on achieving them.

~ Coach Kim

PS - Remember if you aren’t sure whether your weekly goals and daily action steps are on track, just ask. I am happy to help!

I am a little late, but I figure better late than never. My BIG goal is to play college hockey and I know that that is going to be difficult because I am already a sophomore in high school. My goal that I want to work on to reach my BIG goal is making a AAA team for hockey this coming spring. I know I can do it, but I also know I have to work everyday to prepare myself.
This week my number goal is to improve my aim and eating habits. (I’m not sure what I can do at home for aim, maybe you have an idea)
    Action Steps
    1. Focus on getting my head up every shot I take in practice.
    2. Look to open net. (I have a bad habit of looking at the goalie)
    3. Don’t eat out this week.
    4. Don’t snack
I know it says three action steps, but these are the things I really need to focus on. Wish me luck for the week, and good luck to everyone else!

    Hi Kim
My goal for the week is to get better at getting the puck.
    1. I am going to backcheck with purpose. I have got to stop skating beside my man. I will win the race, use my body and have an active stick to get the puck.
    2. Forecheck with no hesitation. I am going to be first to the puck when it is on my wing and come away with it more.
    3. I want to keep up with the healthy stuff and add in some extra hockey specific off-ice strength on Friday.

I already was at goalie devt as a shooter tonight, a female devt practice in the am and a team practice in the pm tomorrow, team dryland Wed, early morning practice Thursday and 3 games this weekend. I know I have more opportunity than most. I need to start really making use of the ice time to get better and to continue playing with the boys in PeeWee Rep next year.

    Dear Coach Kim,

Sorry I am a day late on what I did to accomplish my goals. I got in late from Michigan. I had a tournament. We won the championship. What I did to do that was I drank a ton of water. I ate a BUNCH of fruit. And I didn’t watch any TV. But I did do my pushups.

My goal for this week is to win all three of my hockey games by running on the treadmill every day. Also to go to the gym 2 times this week. And last but not least to skate on my backyard ice rink everyday this week.

My goal for this week is so work on my backhand shot and pass. I backhand is very weak.
    1. Take atleast 200 shots everyday, mostly backhand shots.
    2. Concentrate at practices
    3. Ask for advice from my coaches and get pointers.
    4. Try to take backhand shot when i can in practice and games.

Great job setting your goals for Week 2 of the contest. You are all doing an awesome job of focusing on what you can do on and off the ice to get to the next level.

Jessie - Welcome to the contest. With the focus and determination you have shown by entering this contest and setting your goals, I know you’ll have a great shot at making that AAA team this spring. Keep looking at the open net (that’s something I didn’t figure out until college)

Riley - Excellent work on achieving last week’s goals and being specific on this week’s plan. With all that ice time, make sure to set out a specific goal for each session and your performance will go through the roof in no time.

Reagan - Congrats on the tournament win. Thanks for sharing the secrets of your success with us. Glad to hear you kept up with the push-ups even though you didn’t do them in your usual TV breaks.

Emily - Great focus on your weekly goal. The key to a great backhand (whether a shot or a pass) is to make sure that you keep your hands out in front of you and to transfer your weight. Keep asking your coaches for help and working hard and you’ll see a big difference in no time.

Have a great week everyone - see you back here on Sunday to recap your weekly success stories.

    Work Hard. Dream BIG.

Here are my goals for this week:

    1. Impress at practice. I already had two practices this week, but one remains on Thursday. Hopefully, if I do well, I will get more playing time this weekend.
    2. Score. I have two games this weekend, both against Erie. We are a better team, and I scored both my first goal and first assist against them. I know I can score this weekend, and I am going to do everything I can to do so. I want to still play a team game, but scoring helps the team, no? Besides; if I hope to regain my coaches’ trust/affection, scoring seems like a good idea.
    3. Confer with my semi-teammates from the school team. They have a lot of good advice to offer, and they are always eager to help. I plan to discuss some of my girl team’s issues with them- as well as my personal problems obtaining playing time- in the hopes of getting some good suggestions.
    4. Pay more attention when watching hockey. Whenever I watch Pens games (like now) or other games, I tend to get so excitable that I do not pay as much attention as I ought to formations, etc. Although this is the last Penguins game before the All Star Break, the school team plays on Friday. I hope to pick up on such things during the rest of this game as well as Friday’s.
    5. Continue to improve my eating, sleeping, and warming up habits.

  7. Andrea says:

Hey Kim, sorry im a little late on posting my goals for the week, i have been studying really hard for my exams.
My goal this week is to work even harder over all in my practices and in studying. Also to continue on the tape passes and smart choices (plays) every time im on the ice.
    Actions:
    1. Im going to skate harder then i ever have at my next 2 practices and tell myself that its worth it to gain as much speed possible in the future.
    2. Each night i will stretch for about 15 mins and think about plays and different things i can do each and every time im on the ice. Like i need to improve my communication on the ice.
    3. Im going to study hard but still get enough sleep so i am awake and alert during my exams.

These goals will push me towards my BIG goal by getting myself ready to work harder then i ever have to push me to the next level!
