The “unofficial” start of the new hockey season is here.
While the “pros” have a few more weeks to get themselves ready, you are probably hitting the ice for your first game in a few days (if you haven’t already).
For most of us, today is the last day of calm before the hockey “storm” hits.
I am excited. And I am sure that you are excited.
But…
Are You Ready?
The truth is that most of us go “barreling” into the hockey season with a ton of energy and enthusiasm.
But being excited doesn’t mean that you are prepared.
If you are committed to taking your game to the next level and having your best hockey season ever, you need to have a PLAN.
Starting tomorrow, you will be at the rink all the time - with practices, games, power-skating and extra skill sessions.
Your ON-ICE player development plan for the season is in place.
But…
Do you have a plan for OFF-ICE player development?
Because on-ice ability is only one small part of the player development puzzle.
You have to fit in 6 other critical pieces of the player development puzzle into your plan if you want to guarantee that you will have your best hockey season ever.
–> Mental Preparation
–> Nutrition
–> On-Ice Conditioning
–> Off-Ice Training
–> Warm-Ups
–> Recovery
Sure, you can play without these 6 pieces in place & focus entirely on on-ice development.
But…
Will you play your best?
And will you be prepared when the hockey “storm” reaches full force in the middle of the winter?
Over the next few weeks, I will show you how you can fit these critical pieces into your player development puzzle and help you have your best hockey season ever.
In the meantime, enjoy your the last day of the off-season today…
Because when the hockey “storm” hits, it hits hard.
Your player development coach,
Kim
